Alison has worked extensively in the theatre, regularly creating fights for productions at Derby Playhouse; the Byre Theatre, St. Andrews; the Belgrade, Coventry; the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield; Dundee Rep and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. She has regularly worked on productions with drama students at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was Fight Master at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art from 1996 – 2005.

Alison has an MA in Historical Research from Birkbeck College (University of London). She underwent a three-year apprenticeship to Professor Roy Goodall, a founding member of the British Academy of Dramatic Combat, and was Equity’s first female Fight Director. Since 1999 she has sat on the Committee of the Equity Register of Fight Directors.
She is a member of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers and is Archery Coach to the Royal Company of Archers (historically the Queen’s bodyguard in Scotland).
Alison is a British Academy of Fencing Coach and Royal Toxophilite and Former British Ladies Long Bow champion.
